不是独立的国家，属法国殖民地,官方语言是法语。位于南太平洋，距澳大利亚昆士兰东岸1500公里处。属美拉尼西亚群岛。由新喀里多尼亚岛 、洛亚蒂群岛、无人居住的切斯特菲尔德群岛组成。
